Villa in Mykonos

Mykonos is a tiny little island in Greece that has a modest population of about ten thousand people. Though small in area, the island is a popular tourist destination thanks to its fabulous beaches and vibrant night life. Much frequented by cruise ships and jet-setters, Mykonos indulges its visitors with luxury destinations that are blessed with fairy tale views of the seas. One such particularly fascinating spot is the Mina One villa located in the southwest part of the island. Designed in traditional all-white Mediterranean style and offering ‘Santorini-like’ views, the place just blows your mind. Don’t blame us if you are feeling a little droopy after seeing the images below.

Have you made up your mind about where to relax here? In those sofas under the shade…? The pebble covered infinity pool…? Or would you rather prefer that Jacuzzi…?

Sometimes, hotels can provide excellent inspiration for home. If you remember, we had previously featured an interesting hotel having some bizarre themes. Here is something more for you. These shots are from Fox Hotel, Copenhagen. 21 international artists from the fields of graphic design, urban art and illustration turned Hotel Fox to a piece of art with unique individual themes for its 61 rooms.

Home Offices and Studios

Most of us have a personal space at home where we do work. Be it knitting or managing a company online, the way we organise this space often determines our efficiency at work. Here are some tips you could consider before designing your workspace.

1. It is important, to analyse your typical workday. How often will you work at home? What will your typical activity be? What time of the day will you be working? Is the space sufficient?

2. Think about external factors. Noise, Light, Temperature, Privacy, Ambience… Are they optimal?

3. Take note of ergonomics. Make sure you are sitting at the right distance from the computer. Use correct posture. It might be handy to get a good ergonomic chair.

4. Remember to create a barrier between work and family. One of the disadvantages people working from home often quote is that it is difficult to separate work from leisure. Sometimes, the temptation to take breaks can be overwhelming, or the reverse, you become so engrossed in work and spend more hours on it than you should. Remember to strike a balance.
